Position Description

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the world’s premier global think tank, is seeking a dynamic Media Relations Officer with a proven track record in building and maintaining good relations with the full spectrum of U.S. and international media to join its communications team in Washington.  This position promotes Carnegie’s work—experts, publications, and events—to broadcast, print, and online media. Responsibilities include serving as the primary point of contact for all interview requests, cultivating relationships with key bookers, producers, and correspondents, crafting a media strategy, managing Carnegie’s video studio, planning press availabilities (calls and breakfasts), building media lists, preparing press materials, monitoring Carnegie’s media coverage, and anticipating news hooks relevant to experts’ research.

Requires 2-4 years’ relevant experience; demonstrated attention to detail; excellent communications and writing skills.  In-depth understanding of and interest in foreign policy issues, the international news cycle, and traditional and new media essential.   Must be able to thrive in a team environment.
